Laos vows to further improve agri-food production
Laos is giving strong emphasis to the development of agriculture to increase agri-food production, including the crop sector. The commitment is focused on clean and green agriculture through development of a vision and strategy for the crop sector until 2030. This was a message delivered by the Ministry of Agriculture and Forestry, Director General of Agriculture Department, Mr Vilaysouk Khennavong during the Quarantine Regulation Meeting held yesterday in Vientiane. Mr Vilaysouk stressed the crop sector has played an important role in agriculture due to its contribution to food production, and as a source of raw materials for agro-food processing. “It has also plays an important role for animal feed industries and as a source of commodities to meet international and local market demand, particularly organic agriculture and good agriculture practice products, such as sticky rice, coffee, tea, vegetables and other commodities,” he said.
